Go to your local building supplier and ask for a sealer/wax for wood surfaced high traffic areas. There is several great products out there to protect your floors.

OK, this is going to sound funny, but put two nice baskets by the door. One holds all incoming shoes – no exceptions- well maybe the Pope. The other you fill with fun scuffys from dollar store or flipflop mart. You can make little dogie slips using fleece,and a lace. Cut 4 circles from fleece, and using a seam ripper poke small holes along the top equally apart. Then lace starting from the back and ending with two ends to tie. Make them snazzy!

have carpet installed so you wouldnt constantly worry about the floors getting scratched.or you can clip his finger and toe nails.
